Coaches words to wrap up the 16 week marathon program
It begins with a beam of excitement & then the double take - "Did I really just say I’m going to do this?"
A goal is envisaged . A dream. What if. Who will I be in the world if I accomplished that? What might that feel like to be in that completed picture.. Euphoria.
Now how do I get there?
The Coach breaks it down for me & I start to see the path. He shows me what he thinks Im capable of.. does someone really believe in me?
Hell yeah! If you put it out there then I’ve got your back.
I revel with excitement as a find someone who has a goal. These are my favorite kind of people. People who want to achieve something more of them selves . I love seeing them come alive as the answers begin to surface. I help them join the dots to their own personal glory.
We get the seed of desire sprouted and the work begins. Finding challenge- and learning about the feeling you get that comes out the other side. Nothing compares. They begin to see how challenges are all around us on & off the track. Gradually the connection is made that a winning attitude is necessary not just in sport but in life too. Endeavour is necessary in everything we do, it becomes infectious to others and all of a sudden theres an expectation to keep your head up & to help others keep their heads up.
Another level is reached and the game keeps stepping up.. its like a wave building in energy. It builds and eventually the resistance of change is inevitable. The dump. It feels like your losing control & you are.. only to find you had the courage to stand up & ride the wave. You open your eyes and the flow pulls you forward with incredible force, your soaring. You never look back knowing that your endeavour prevails.
Gazing up to the horizon you smile in the thought of accomplishment.
Dedicated to all my athletes who all ran amazing races on the weekend. It marked an accomplished chapter .. for many of them its just the beginning. You've all grown as strong individuals on & off the track. Stick together & you'll go far.
Brendan
